What is Outgoing Exchange Program

Students Exchange Program starts within two universities' consent to open their campus for students to study. They will sign a agreement for student exchange, including the number of exchange students (quota), duration and regulations related to exchange study.

The list of "Partner Universities" under OIA outbound section all have student exchange agreement with Taiwan Tech. Students can apply for exchange study. Duration of exchange study is usually for one semester, some universities allow student to study for two semesters. In most cases, student can only apply for the same department/faculty as their major in Taiwan Tech. In the exchange period, students will be enrolled as Partner University's student and need to take courses as the other students. 

Every semester, the Office of International Affairs (OIA) holds an exchange student application briefing to provide application instructions. Students can also refer to past video recordings to understand the general application process.

Application and Reviewing

During the exchange student application system open period in each semester, applicants must fill out information online and upload application documents. After the application deadline, OIA will conducts eligibility checks first (to confirm that all information and documents are complete), then submit student application to departments for preliminary reviews.  After deparment approved the exchange application, OIA will allocate preferences university for applicants according to their totall scores in the application system. Once students confirm the university as the receiving university, OIA will then nominate students to the partner universities.

Usually the applicaiton period is around Winter or Summer vacation. During the summer vacation students can apply for exchange in the following spring semester, and during the winter vacation each year applying for exchange in the following Fall/Winter semester. The exact time might be different according to partner university's nomination schedule. OIA will announce the application schedule as early as possible, but still, do not wait until the application brochure released to start your preparation. Obtain a valid language proficiency test scores ealier, and make sure all the required documents are ready before the application begins. 

Important Dates for Student Exchange:

Each semester the entire timeline of inner applicaiton might be different. Refer to the Guide Line below for details. Some important dates include:

  • Online application period
  • Announcement of exchange students candidate who pass the review and assigned with one partner university. (first round list), 
  • Candidate's confirmation of acceptance reply period
  • Announcement of remaining quota (of secound round)

ps. The Second Round quota only open to the first round candidate who give up their first roung choice and choose for the second round.  

  • Secound Rond application period
  • Announcement of Second Round Results
  • Candidate's confirmation of acceptance for the Second Round universities that assigned
  • Final List released

2. Before filling out this application system, please thoroughly read the selection regulations for exchange student programs. After completing the form, please double-check all information for accuracy and make sure to submit it. No hard copies of documents need to be submitted to OIA. If the system prompts you to submit hard copies, please disregard it.

3. Graduate students must obtain approval from their supervising professors for overseas exchange to avoid departmental disapproval
